Construction was already underway on a new, four-bedroom home in King Creek NSW, when the client decided that the proposed kitchen needed a face lift. Central to its re-design, the King Creek Kitchen used Lagoon from the PGH Bricks Seascape range, a brick product that worked to refresh the kitchen design with its soft, cool blue tone. The dramatic use of this glazed brick injected a burst of colour from which the rest of the soft, industrial-themed design emanated. Adding to that, complementary coloured glass chips were mixed with the polished concrete floor – a unique touch in adding a funky, retro-like feel to the heart of the home.
Timber detailing of Merbau hardwood, recycled timber sleepers, and dominating timber-framed external cavity sliding glass doors contributed to the real working kitchen atmosphere of this space. The extra-large light fittings added yet another layer to enhance the kitchen’s industrial theme. Emphasising the use of low-maintenance, yet high quality materials, an impressive block of warm dark grey reconstituted veined stone and ultra-modern fittings worked to achieve a sense of modern sophistication with designer detailing.
