This building constitutes the second stage of development for Central Queensland University's Rockhampton Health Clinic. The extension seamlessly integrates with the initial stage, providing further functional amenity and enhancing the original design intent. Abundant natural light and connections to the landscape ease the experience of patients, students and staff alike.

The material palette, which included face brickwork both externally and internally, is a lively interpretation of colours found in the natural environment. Financial decisions considered long term maintenance of the facade and the importance of providing established landscapes at building handover as well as prioritising generous proportions, dynamic volumes and humane textures within the building. The selection of bricks was integral to this decision.

The interface between the first and second stages enhances the performance of both. Dual addresses provide flexibility to integrate the professional requirements of external partners with the university's learning objectives. Circulation throughout the complex is intuitive and experiential.
