North Lakes Vet Hospital is a new veterinary hospital constructed to provide specialist medical care for a range of animals.

Situated amongst a collection of tilt-up concrete neighbouring buildings, the North Lakes Vet Hospital establishes a positive street presence, while also making provision for a secluded courtyard garden at the entry to the building. This feature can offer visual relief to the occupants, as they make use of the public areas of the new facility.

The austere, textural, brick external cladding, of which Thredbo* from the PGH Bricks Hinterlands* range was used, is intended to provide a robust skin to the building. It gives way for light to register, and shadow, as well as conveying a sense of solidity and visual coherence.

Glazed dormer windows are visible above the brick datum, giving the building a memorable appearance to the street and acting as lantern-like forms at night when the building is operated as an emergency care facility.
